The Zero-Sum Game 🎮
Traditional fundraising is a broken design loop. Corporate platforms force independent creators into a toxic binary: you must either peddle a polished product or beg from a ditch. If you operate outside a corporate box with an unpredictable freelance income, the algorithm doesn’t know how to categorize you. You end up spending more time defending your life choices to strangers than producing the actual work your core community supports you for.
I didn’t build this engine to become a full-time fundraiser. I built it to automate the administrative noise so I can clear my debt, get back to the field, and focus on codebase output.
Systemic Sabotage: 2020 vs. 2026 ⚡
Operating independently means surviving without a corporate safety net, making you a target for both physical and digital disruption:
2020 (The Physical Hit): A victim of police brutality that resulted in the complete destruction of my e-bike—my primary mode of field transport and livelihood.
2026 (The Algorithmic Hit): A logic fault in Uber's automated verification system flagged my street-legal e-bike as an unverified motor vehicle, instantly deactivating a 10-year delivery profile.
A single algorithmic glitch stripped away my baseline operational income stream overnight. Explaining the labyrinth of corporate automated walls takes time and context—stories that I want to tell, but stories that require funding to investigate and produce properly.
Hitting the Platform Wall 🧱
To survive the immediate fallout of the 2026 deactivation, I initially tried GoFundMe. It was a dead end. I found myself trapped behind a sterile interface, blocked from communicating directly with my supporters, and forced to twist my situation into a neat, sanitized sob story just to fit their template. Because my reality isn't wrapped up in a pretty bow, the fundraiser felt awkward, performative, and entirely disconnected from a professional media operation.
So, I deleted the GoFundMe and hand-built the solution on my own infrastructure: the Creative Fund Engine.
The Handshake 🤝
By partnering with Ko-fi to handle the baseline transactional heavy lifting, I avoid reinventing the security wheel and keep the focus where it belongs: on raw content and decentralized software.
This page isn't running on a faceless network—it is hardcoded directly into my digital digital home at nukirk.com. My entire professional reputation, my face, and my creative livelihood are tied to this domain. I can’t hide behind an anonymous platform profile or distort the numbers. This page is my bond. It will stand transparently as a live, public record until every single reward on this roadmap is delivered.
